Biology: Concepts & Connections

This was one of my first exposures to a college text book. This was used for my AP Biology class back in the day. I actually ended up owning 3 different versions of this book from different biology classes I took. I had a different edition for the biology class I took at Community College of Aurora, and then an even newer version for the biology classes I took at Colorado State University. None of the classes used the whole book. I also understand that science is constantly changing, but to have to buy 3 different versions of the same book within a 9 year period was a bit much. It would actually be more cost effective if professors used open source material to offset the changes in a book. This means that a single text book could be used for more years and by more students if they buy used books.
The book itself was average for a text book. The reading level was not challenging, but it contains a lot of material. Because of this it makes sense for biology professors to use it for part 1 and part 2 of a biology course sequence. I give it 3 stars out of 5 or a C rating because it had no features that made it stand out.
