2022 January News

1/5/2022: "Aurora Public Schools down nearly 400 teachers and staff on first day of spring semester" - https://sentinelcolorado.com/orecent-headlines/aurora-public-schools-down-nearly-400-teachers-and-staff-on-first-day-of-spring-semester/?fbclid=IwAR07ruvRfDTbQ5ymoT5K8432Zf3dV6RIq5h_BP5QzeYz0E_gzVKz_516Hnc

1/6/22: "Aurora Public Schools asks families not to share rumors of school violence on social media" - This would be great, but as a society we have learned that in our current society the only way to get things done or listened to is to take it to the mass public. The problem is that only peer pressure will get any one to do anything now a days. Also as a side note I know that schools also try to hid anything that will make them look bad so sharing things on social media is many times the only way to get the information where it needs to go because of the schools trying to cover their own butts. https://sentinelcolorado.com/orecent-headlines/aurora-public-schools-asks-families-not-to-share-rumors-of-school-violence-on-social-media/?fbclid=IwAR3E8eo5NngegtsQ288DkcPARv1Mlh5vAerCAifQRLG6q2pMJoUGkuNZGUM

Lightfoot has exposed herself to be a very racist person and out of touch with reality. Here I am cheering on the Chicago teachers union, because covid is a real issue that even if you survive can have lasting effects on your health. https://www.foxnews.com/us/chicago-public-schools-close-for-fourth-straight-day-as-mayor-blasts-teachers-union-for-illegal-strike?fbclid=IwAR0X3g-bFYHjheBT29RT2mW_8A-e7Smmtlg5Vrgrd_e4jnDit2vNpDd9YxU "Yale And Other Top U.S. Universities Hit With Lawsuit For Allegedly Price Fixing Student Aid" - https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlieporterfield/2022/01/10/yale-and-other-top-us-universities-hit-with-lawsuit-for-allegedly-price-fixing-student-aid/?fbclid=IwAR2PY7fTH170d6FRnGqFAwv7agqtyzn-LLZKUUN2moMfAF-7j9QIY_6DGYQ&sh=4af284a510ce

1/27/22: "DougCo Schools don't require masks, leaving parents of kids with medical conditions with little options and a lot of fear" - This shows that while you give some people perceived freedom, you are taking away others real freedom. Anti-maskers just like doing what they want and do not care about the health and safety of those around them. They are not only taking away freedoms of those people to be able to be out, but taking away their lives. https://www.cpr.org/2022/01/27/douglas-county-schools-mask-policy/

1/28/22: "States weigh a raft of proposed laws to limit race, sexuality lessons in schools" - I normally don't encourage limiting learning in any way, but I do believe that what is taught must be correct information. I do have a lot of concerns if critical race theory is being taught because not only is it just wrong in so many ways, but in its current form it is both highly biased and racist in and of itself. Many of the people that support critical race theory don't even know where the word slave came from or have an understanding of overall human history. I will actually be taking a deeper look at some of these bills in more detail in a later post. - https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/states-weigh-raft-proposed-laws-limit-race-sexuality-lessons-schools-n1288108?fbclid=IwAR1BWm2FvXZ6LZQI-6noJfvPhrbnkBTirsvvxIQugb-_C72t7i9zXpBPfEE "Meet the moms of color from Texas fighting book bans at their kids' schools" - I'm not for banning any book, even the Harry Potter books. I think that books where there are issues with either their material or author should have disclaimers in them that educate people on the issue. In this case then these classes should have 2 text books with the different views so that the students can see the differences and try to find the truth between them. Any text book is going to have some type of bias to it, and it is the teachers' responsibility to help students navigate that bias or at the very least to be aware of it. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/meet-moms-color-texas-fighting-book-bans-kids-schools-rcna13701?fbclid=IwAR0k-X1ZcG7D6ipo5MbJ-05f83mCAtxypoEoiW8VKzp3I6IiGDobK41oBng
